Hi,

Can starcd simulate platic (polymer) flows? I guess they are non-newtonian. It is possible to simulate non-newtonian flows but I want to know the viscosity limits (lower) up to which star simulates correctly. Take for example melting of tar while flowing.

Yes, with the the use of subroutines STAR-CD can do it but the effort and calculation time is much higher in comparison to the special molding software like Moldfolw,Sigmasoft,Cadmold,etc..

So don't waste your time

if you already have a STAR license then you might want to look into trying Comet for this type of problem.
