64-bit Solaris

Does anyone here use a 64-bit Solaris version of STAR-CD? Is there even such a beast?

Re: 64-bit Solaris

Yes, I used it for pre/post (star 3.150 + proam 3.150.321, Solaris 8, Blade 2000). Could handle large models with it, but the performance wasn´t that good. Best regards Alex

Re: 64-bit Solaris

Just for pre- and post- right? You'd use something cheaper and faster (Linux cluster) for solving?

Re: 64-bit Solaris

We also use Sun Blade 2000's for CFD pre & post processing. With aftermarket memory I've got 12gig on board and I have definitely shattered the 2gig limit of a 32bit machine with some of my preprocessing jobs.

If the opinion is that the Sun's aren't that fast, what is a better 64bit front and back end option?

We tend to use high-end HPs here for post-processing.
