Star CD installtion on Linux
I need help ! I have used Fluent on windows. But this is the first time I am using Linux. Can anyone please guide me how to install Star CD on a linux machine....Thank you . Regards Samir

Hi Samir, if you have the disks then you should have the installation guide with it. Its actually very easy to install STAR on Linux. I did'nt have any experience of Linux when I installed mine either...

I do have the discs and the guide. do i have to be logged in as root to go ahead with the installation. thanks a lot, samir

It depends.....but generally speaking yes. The default way of installation is for the roots. It is however much easier to ask someone around your office to help you with it and give you the basic hints of using the linux.

You do not need to be root to install the software on Linux. You just need to have write permission to the directory you install it in. Read the installation guide before installing.

But you do need to be root to install ABSOFT as it installs library fiels..glib...

I do not believe that you do not have to be root to install absoft. You can put it anywhere as long as your path and the ABSOFT variable are set correctly.
