Cavitation Problems
I've been trying to run cavitation using the Rayleigh model in STAR v3.24 and haven't been able to make it run.
I run the model without cavitation until the residuals get reasonably low, then I enable cavitation. The pressure profile without cavitation looks exactly like I would expect. As soon as cavitation is enabled, the pressure profile becomes unrealistic and the residuals increase until the simulation stops running. I've tried many different timesteps etc. to no avail. Is there a bug with 3.24? Has anyone else encountered the same problem and found a solution? Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated!!! Chris |
Re: Cavitation Problems
I have also encountered similar problem while simulating cavitation. When I restart the problem from my steady state run (w/o cavitation) it stops as soon as cavitation model is switched on. I sorted out this problem by running the model from biginning. It took huge time but. But afterall it solved. Then next cases you can restart.
First get one model with cavitation running from beginning. Do not restart from your w/o cavitation results. |
Re: Cavitation Problems
You have to do a smap restart.

Re: Cavitation Problems
Are you guys talking about using the restart option? I was commenting that I started a new run normally, but enabled cavitation at timestep 80, when the model stopped working correctly.
Have you encoutered/fixed this issue? Chris |
