Hi, im trying to use pro surf to generate a grid, but I get way more cells than what I want, what values should I change so that when i regenerate the grid I get less cells?

Thanks

HI,

Try to increase the max length when you perform surface triangulation. By the way what is the way of volume mesh generation?

I hope this will do.

What maximum length though? In the generate surface grid option there are 4 lengths. The maximum curve lenght , the minimum curve legth (both of these are reference lengths) and the triangle length scale and the minimum length scale due to curvature.... The triagnle length scale is 0.0021517 and the minimum length scale is 0.00199027.... What do you thing would be suitable values?

I dont know what is the way of volume mesh generation, i am not very familiar with pro surf....

Thanks for your help!

Hi again,

I managed to change the max lengths so that the triangulation complete. Now though, i want to import it to prostar, but i dont know if i should save it as iges or as dbs. Because in the user guide it seems like dbs is what i need, but i cant find a way to input a dbs file in prostar... Any ideas?

You have to use proam to open a *dbs file.

Thanks, i managed to do that too, and i can open the file but when i start generating the mesh, at step 3 where i generate the subsurface, i get segmentation fault... And also in step 2 i get a message saying that I have 25 non manifold points. Can these two errors be connected? If yes how can i fix it?

Thank you for beeing so helpfull!

Hi,

Increase your max triangle length scale and see how your surface triangular density decreases.

And first try to resolve manifold error with the help of available literature(user guide),then go further.

Wish you good luck.

It is probably a good idea to read some manuals and run the tutorials.

Oh thanks! Lol, i understand how to do the surface checks but i cant fix the problems it finds (6634 failed out of 103983 , shit, is that too much?!!!!) , my english is not this good sorry, and i get confused by the manual

still, thanks

Is your way of generating mesh: solid model-> pro-Star/surf -> Pro-Star/amm -> mesh generation? If so then the fault you get is probably because of the way you generated your solid model.

Regards
