Linex OS bloks memory
Hi friends,
I am meshing (using pro*am)a huge problem (around 9 million cells) in cluster M/C with the following configuration, OS - Linux (scientific Linux) CPU's - 2 RAM capacity - 6 GB's each (12 GB's total) I have encounted the following, When I started the meshing work (after restarting the m/c) it initially took 2 GB's of memory and at the end of day 11 GB's get's blocked even after closing all activities i.e. I came out from all the activities still it shows 11.3 GB's in use. Pl. give me a suggestion to sort-out this problem. Thanks in advance C.Shanmugasundaram |
Re: Linex OS bloks memory
The first question is which Linux are you using and second is are you sure you installed the 64bit linux version of STAR?

Re: Linex OS bloks memory
Dear TG,
Thanks for your replay and details are, Linux - using both Fedora and scientific Linux STAR-CD Version- 3.22 (32 bit version of star) Thanks and Regards C.Shanmugasundaram |
Re: Linex OS bloks memory
I'm afraid you have 2 problems.
1) Fedora isn't supported and I don't know what you mean by scientific Linux 2)You can't take advantage of more than 2 (or maybe 4)Gb of memory with a 32bit version. You need a 64bit OS and the 64bit version of STAR to take advantage of all your memory. |
Re: Linex OS bloks memory
Scientific linux also a 64 bit version of linux only. As you told i will try 64 bit version of star-cd (3.24 or 3.26)and get back to you.
