Reading In Residual Dump Data in Star-CD v4.0

Hi, I am not sure how many people are using Star-CD v4.0 yet, but my question is as follows: how do you read a residual dump file?

Previous versions of Star-CD (ie: v3.x) allowed you to create a specific file with the extension .rpo

Apparently the .ccm file (which contains the .pst and .geom files) also replaces this .rpo file. However, when you load the .ccm file after a residual dump you cannot seemingly access the residual data - only the data that would be found in the .pst file

Does anyone know how to read this data?

ok, so I solved the initial problem out: when accessing this data use the following command:

trload <filename.ccm>,,,residue

and then proceed as normal.

Now it appears however, that no residual data was dumped out. Any suggestions? Keep in mind this is for Star v4.0

I was told at the last user conference that before using star v4 you MUST contact your local account manager for advice and info if the features have been re-implemented in the code yet. The have the information already prepared.

Funny you mention that - I have been on the phone with Star-CD for the last couple of days. Essentially, the method I described here leads to a dead end when running steady-state (I am not sure if this is the way to get residual data when running transient). Essentially you need to input the following:

load <filename.ccm>,,Residue_<dump number>

Thereafter you will get all the residual data available. Anyway, just a pointer for anyone who is using Star-CD v4
