Dear users,

I am facing a problem. I am solving a problem with prescribed heat flux BCs. The residuals of enthalpy have gone down to 1.0e-7 but in .INFO file total heat balance is shown as 1.0e4. I dont know what is the wrong. PLZ help.

Total heat balance has nothing to do with the residuals. It's just a summary of heat fluxes coming in and out of the domain. If you have only positive (i.e. incoming) heat fluxes, then for sure heat balance will be nonzero, so nothing is wrong

Thanks anton for replying.

i want to add here that in INfo file it is mentioned that value of hdiff should reduce to small no.for convergence. In my problem all + heat fluxes has been specified. DO you have any further comments to say.

bye

ALso my understanding is that for steady state conditions, the incoming heat should balance the outgoing. So the differance of the two should ideally be zero.

Can you tell more about your problem specification? And BTW how does the value you see in the .info file correlates with your boundary heat fluxes?

what version of star you're using? I remember I've read something about correcting error with fluxes computations in the info and erd file in 4.02 documentation.

is it possible to check the fluxes in star with lovely register play? I'd try that first to see if the info file is right.
