Which Linux distribution?

I have been trying to use Star-CD on Windows for a while now and have decided to switch over to Linux because of the fact that the university now has es-ice. Which Linux distribution would you recommend for a new Linux user? Cheers

The one which is officially supported by Star-CD :) These are RedHat and SuSE/OpenSuSE. Try searching this forum - I remeber people managed to make it running under some other distributions.

Thanks for the reply. Would Scientific Linux be supported as a derivative of Red Hat?

Luke

Go for suse or opensuse, you'll save yourself loads of grief. Here we use suse 10.0 or opensuse 10.2

Haven't had any problems

Any OpenSuse Linux release works well. We use OpenSuse 10.3 and even OpenSuse 11.

Hi Usker

Did you have any problems using suse 11? We've changed to an intel 64 bit dual core machine with suse 11 and I can't even run flexlm, tells me it's not been initialized properly.

Any ideas

thanks
