Importing Star-CCM+´s .ccm file in Star-CD

Hi
I have my postprocessed simulation (a geometry scene in star ccm+ 3.02 with lots of streamlines) and I would like to create a .scn file. I think I have to export my simulation from star ccm+ in the .ccm format, and import it in Star-CD then follow the simple instructions that I´ve read here: http://www.cd-adapco.com/press_room/...4/Dr_mesh.html. The problem is I´m only a Star CCM+ user... If anyone could help me with this: 1. What is glm mode? How can I set it up? 2. How do I do to import the .ccm file in star-CD (v4.02)?? Thank you in advance Zolet |

Glm is a display mode of Prostar. It uses GL as its basis and allows you to use hardware accelerated graphics.
You start it using prostar glm in Unix or you can select it in Windows. To benefit from the hardware acceleration you need to either issue the TERM command with the extended option or click on the X/GL button on the lower left side of the output window - which performs the same function. To read a CCM file exported from CCM+ in Prostar you use the RCCM command. |

Hi
Thank you James for the answers. I did this (I´m using Windows): I opened Star-Launch and changed in the file->preferences->pre-post graphics mode from XM to OpenGL (is this a correct step?) then I used the command RCCM to read the file. I´m getting this error message: Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display "HICKMANN:0.0". Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display "HICKMANN:0.0". The OpenGL version can not run on this display, disabling extended mode Cannot find appropriate OpenGL visual Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display "HICKMANN:0.0". Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display "HICKMANN:0.0". The OpenGL version can not run on this display, disabling extended mode Cannot find appropriate OpenGL visual Then I tried TERM EXTENDED and got this: **ERROR - EXTENDED MODE NOT SUPPORTED BY X VERSION. PLOTS SENT TO TERMINAL WITH MODE=STANDAR TYPE=EXTE RASTER STYLE DEVICE ASSUMED Then i tried RCCM filename and Star CD read the .ccm file, but nothing appers in the pro-Star window but a black screen... Can anybody help me? |

I would ask CDA about the GL problem.
It will not plot unless you tell it to (as is always the case in Prostar). Cset news fluid cplot Should put up a plot on the screen. To do much more you will need to learn at least some of the prostar plot commands. |

don't forget you can use provis to post-process .ccm files too - much easier to learn and use than pro-STAR, but with less features, however it certainly creates good .scn files (I notice it was used in that Dr Mesh article too)
But scene file creation relies on GL being available (either in software or hardware), so pro-vis much fail too, but it is more modern software created in QT so you might be lucky. |

PS I am not aware that you can read the result part of .ccm files into pro-STAR - command RCCM only reads geometry. So provis is your only easy option.

You can read both geometry and results for STAR-CCM+ .ccm files into pro-STAR. provis is certainly easier, but either one will work and pro-STAR has more capability.

You can read the results from ccm+ into prostar for postprocessing.
"load file.ccm ,, default" |
