Cluster HP-MPI error.

Hello,
I bought 3 servers and one workstation. I’m trying to use my 3 serves as a cluster. I have installed Open Suse v11.1 and CD-Adapco 4 in all computers.
That’s my set up:

And that's my error, it happens when I try to run the simulation with parallel hosts.
- Hp-MPI licensed for CD-adapco.

If someone had this error before and know how to solve it, I'll be very grateful.

Thanks a lot !

I also had a cluster mpi error recently. CD-adapco support suggested two things:

Use mpich by inserting 'put -mpidriver mpich' into the comand line. It's probably slower but who knows.

Put a link back to a previous ccm+ mpi folder into the current releases folder and then use something like -mpidriver hp2:"-prot -version 2.2.7". The directory structure should be similar to:

. . . /starccm+4.04.011/mpi/hp2/linux-x86_64-2.2.5/2.03.00.00

I went back to v3.06.006 and have a job running now.

. . . /starccm+3.06.006/mpi/hp2/linux-x86_64-2.2.5/2.02.07.00

Note that the -version is NOT 2.02.07.00 but 2.2.7.

I hope this helps.

You might also want to try to run the host on the local host, rather than on a worker host.

Hello,

Thank you¡! It works with mpich.

I called to Cd-adapco support to ask what happen with hp-mpi.. and they told me that Suse 11.1 and this version of hp-mpi is not compatible. ""·!"·$$·"%$%&%" they said that i have to use the '-mpi mpich' into the command line... the same as you told me...

Ty :o !

Problem Solved

Right now I got an answer from CD-Adapco support to solve at least the same problem on my site.

It seems that there exists a entry

127.0.0.2 machinename

in /etc/hosts, which misleads HP-MPI.

If you delete this entry and put machinename to the correct IP address (if not already there) everything should be fine again (at least it worked here).

Good luck
Oliver
