A flat wave is exactly what it sounds like - an undisturbed plane of fluid. Basically, just specify the flow direction.

A first-order wave has a periodic, sinusoidal motion, i.e., the simplest wave you can imagine. Basically, you just specify its direction and amplitude.

A fifth-order wave is a much more realistic interpretation of a wave than a first-order wave. You must specify its direction and amplitude, as well as other parameters, such as the velocity of the body in the fluid.
