Hi guys,

I have a problem and I need help. The super computer I'm using to solve my simulations does not have a video card. This is not a problem for steady state cases because I can transfer the files to another computer to view the solution scenes, however, while conducting unsteady simulations Star-ccm+ insists on generating a scene after each time step and it's causeing my simulation to crash.

I've tried to find a solution to this problem but I've been unsuccessful up until this point. It may be something simple or not, but I need help please.

I appreciate any advice.

Thanks

To be a little more clear...this is happening even though I have not created any scences.

Hmm, interesting..
Have you deleted all the scenes from your simulation? (if there is any)
I suppose you can ask CD-Adapco directly if no one has encounter your issue

lava,

Yes, all the scenes are deleted. It is an I/O exception and it's happening on a linux system with no video card. Works fine on my windows version.

Thanks for the reply...I'll try CD-Adapco.

I've dumped many scene files from a compute cluster with no graphics card. That may not be your problem.

Regardless, I believe StarCCM+ has a -mesa start up option. This option tells the server to process graphics in software rather than hardware (i.e. the video card). You could try using this option & see if it helps your problem. I believe the software defaults to "software graphics" when it doesn't find a video card. So I would consider this a long shot.
