Multi computer parallel job

I have a question regarding parallel running of Star-CCM+ cases.

Is it possible for me to connect together 2 or more computers through a simple LAN hub and use the CPUs from both machines to solve the case? I have the relevant parallel Star licenses.

Would it be possible to set up one of the machines to hold the licenses and the second machine just checks out licenses for the cores as it needs them?

Thanks

It is possible but I think it is not easy. If you are very good in IT issues then you can do that. Otherwise you need to ask an IT guy.

Thank you for your reply siara.

Do you mind expanding on your post, what will be likely issues?

Dear Jonny,

If you have installed STAR-CCM on your computer you may find the file Flex license administration guide. It is a PDF file located in the subnode CD-adapco in All programs.
Open it and search for network in the text, you will find very useful information in detail.
I hope it can help.
Good luck

I do not have the pdf file with the details in. Would it be possible to detail the steps that I would need to take?

thanks

Hi Badger,

If you already use STAR-CCM+, you have the pdf what you need.

Follow the path that i gave and search "Using a Remote Multi-Core Workstation" in user guide and then also you will find various commands and tips for this.

C:\Program Files\CD-Adapco\STAR-CCM+7.04.006\doc

You can do it same Operating system and with same machine name/identity. By the way there is an answer related this issue. May be you can do more wide search in forum.
