Hello,
Using best mesh standards/parameters. 1) Did anyone tried to compare heat transfer results for conformal and non conformal mesh. if yes, what was the geometry/part. 2) How are the results varying. 3) Does non conformal mesh correlates with test data (or any closer match). it is a best practice to go with conformal mesh for better results, but, whats the actual or one on one difference foe mesh used?

Hi,
I have a experience the comparing. Conformal mesh means poly and non-conformal mesh mean trimmed right? as i remember, result was almost the same. but not exactly.. heat transfer result is the same. but flow result.. i got quite different result. i recommand trimmed mesh even though it is not conformal. For a non-conformal mesh, you can generally satisfy the energy balance over volumes.
But if you want to match detailed temperature data, they you might want a conformal mesh. conformal mesh means that the mean on both sides of the fluid|solid interface are the same (i.e. one continuous mesh). |

Yes, but in CCM+ it is impossible to make conformal mesh using trimmed mesh.
I expect that Bharatt is asking trimmed non-conformal mesh vs poly conformal mesh.. |

Hello, can you please explain how I can set non-conformal interface?
