Hello! I'm new in Star ccm+. Now I encounter a difficult.

I want to set periodic boundaries in my mesh model. however, after I clicked two faces, then right-clicked ’create interface ‘, and selected Periodic, there was a warning appearing on the Output window----Warning: "Periodic 5" interface type star.common.InternalInterface is incompatible with selected models. Reason: Model SolidStressModel is incompatible with model(s) on the other side.

My mesh model is imported from Gambit and is followed:

I hope some one can help me!

It appears you can't use periodic BCs with the FVS model. What do you need to do with this simulation?

I want to simulate the deep groove seal. In the former attachment, there are two black model, one of which is a static ring and another a rotary ring, and between of them is a thin film, about 4 microns.

Keep in mind that the FVS model is only applicable in the linear elastic region.

Can't you just do the whole ring? This doesn't look very big, the extra expense may not be too large.

Hi, Thank you! I solved this problem, there was a setting I had not set.

But, now I have a new problem, When I'm running, "Attempt to access unallocated VolumeFractionLevel1 storage in cells in deep_fluid" appears in the output.

Do you know why?

That error is generally some kind of initialization problem. Be sure you have all solvers unfrozen. Clear the solution and reinitialize it.

Thanks for your reply! Is your meaning hitting Solvers and unselecting Solver Frozen? I did it, cleared solution, initialized solution ,and then ran again. However, a error appeared----A floating point exception has occurred: floating point exception [Divide by zero]. The specific cause cannot be identified. Please refer to the troubleshooting section of the User' Guide.
Is my mesh bad?

If your simulation blows up immediately there may be a problem with your mesh, but more likely there's a problem with your physics or boundary conditions.
