Hello,

I am doing my thesis on "simulation Analysis Model for Non-Newtonian Blood Flow through Femoral Artery and Adjacent Tissue Medium"

I have modeled the artery using solid works then i have added tissue around the artery. In order blood to flow from artery to tissue i need to consider artery as permeable and tissue as porous medium. I do not know how to choose the Physics condition for this model.

Please some one help me in solving this issue.

Hi

assign the volume you want to be porous to a separate fluid region.

in the properties window -> type select the drop down menu and change from fluid region to porous region

What are the physics values i need to use for artery to make it permeable

I tried using multiphase flow but i did not get permeable option.

Why does the tissue to artery interface need to be permeable? If you just make it an in-place interface, that should allow fluid to move from one place to another. The backpressure from the tissue would keep all of the blood from leaving the artery, no?

Because artery should allow blood to pass to tissue.Do you want me to attach the file i have done till now?

Ah, if you're using VOF things are a little different.

You need to use the wall porosity model, and make the wall porous for one phase and resist another.

That VOF function did not work. What physics do i need to use in order to get inplace as phase permeable.

In intersection folder-->inplace when am selecting inplace i am getting baffel interface instead of phase permeable

The function you're looking for is in the wall porosity model if you're using VOF. Turn it on for your phases and then turn your interface to a baffle. It will have phase condition options.

I didnot get the option called phase condition in interface i have only inplace with physics conditions.

Because you have an in-place interface. As I stated earlier, you need to use a baffle interface.

Thankyou I think this will help me.

One more question did you go through the word file i have attached in my previous msgs? I donot even know wether am using correct physcs or not because i am not sure wether i should create phases or not for tissue medium which is porous.I had choosen physcs conditions ramdomly 😔.for artery do i need to create two phase or one phase ?

Thankyou.

Hello,

I did the same but the flow is not directed to tissue from artery

please see the attached file.See there is no flow directed to tissue from artery . even after making the inplace interface to baffle interface.

Did you set the phase conditions on the interface? A baffle interface with the default settings is just a wall.

You should not be choosing physics randomly. If you want a simulation that has usable results, you need to put thought into what and how you're simulating. As the old CAE saying goes - "garbage in, garbage out".

Using a porous media as the second domain sounds fine to me, I've seen it done before with injection simulations.

I tried using many physics conditions. I tried using VOF model and non VOF but there isn't any result.I donot know exactly what kind of physics i need to use to make it permeable.Yes i did phase condition for interface .

If you set the phase conditions on each side of the interface to be porous, the phase should move through the interface.
