How to make 2D model

Hi, I am new to star CCM+. I want to do a conduction model for a cylindrical shell with having inner tubes through which flow happens. I have created volume mesh i.e. 3D mesh I guess. Now If I want to do the 2D conduction problem, do I need to convert the mesh into 2D? And could you please tell me exactly what I have to do.

Create your sketch in xy plane, generate mesh and then convert it to 2D. The key point is that you create the base sketch in xy plane. Also the star documentation is pretty clear in this regard.

Thank you for the reply.

If we convert mesh into 2D, can we give inlet boundary condition?
And as I want to do a conduction problem for a solid shell having a tube inside it, I need to specify velocity at the inlet? right?
Could you please clarify my small doubt.

Lokesh

you should specify the BCs in 3D, then convert the region to 2D. the BCs will remain after this transformation.
