I am new to this software, and I am trying to simulate the rotating motion of a vertical axis water turbine. After I set up the boundaries and regions, an error said"trimmer can not accommodate multiple regions in one continuum" shows up. What is the mistake of this?

Hi Xiaosong,
The Trimmer mesher in STAR-CCM+ can only mesh one region at a time and it does not create conformal mesh at the interface. So, if you are using the Trimmer to mesh multiple regions, you have to enable "Per-region meshing" or "Per-part meshing" under: - Continua > Mesh 1 > Models > Trimmer : Properties (if you are using "region-based meshing") or - Geometry > Operations > Automatic Mesh 1 > Models > Trimmer : Properties (if you are using "parts-based meshing") There are some relevant tutorials in STAR-CCM+ documentation including several ones on meshing and one on a rotating fan, that you might find useful. Regards, MI |
