Hello,
I am modeling ESP. The model of my ESP is symmetric about vertical mid-plane. Can you suggest me ideas to reduce the computational domain so as to save computational efforts and time ? One idea is as the ESP is symmetric about vertical plane. . .can I divide it along that plane and solve the case? If YES then how to split the geom in STAR-CCM+ along a plane. Do I need to give periodic BC across the symmetry plane? Please respond to the query...hoping that I can save the computational time, efforts and memory... |

If your model is symmetric you can create a simple block part and use a subtraction operation to get the part of the domain that's symmetric.
You don't need to give a periodic condition for a symmetry plane - you use a symmetry condition. |
