Importing Text data Into StarCCm+

Hello,

Iam trying to mesh a geometry, My geometry has two membranes. Outer membrane is generated using matlab, so it has set of data points generated from matlab. I would like to combine data points from text file with my inner geometry and then mesh it. i dont see any option for importing a text file directly into starCCM+.

Should I use java macros to combine data points with the inner geometry ? Can someone give a hint regarding this.

Regards

Tools > Tables > New Table > File Table will import CSV, TAB, DAT, TBL, OUT, INP, VAL, and XY formats.

Not sure how you would use those in the mesher. I think what you need to do is generate an STL file of your matlab membrane and import that surface mesh. As far as I know Star cannot mesh a list of points with out knowing how they are connected.

Dont know exactly how you need to implement the data in the mesh from the few information given.

But if your case is quite simple, you can actually manipulate Parameters in your StarCCM+ internal CAD Model (if you use it at all) with a java Skript, that actually reads the input file. I did that , but only for very simple cases (e.g. 2D Model with variable diameter as a parameter study). However this option is not really useful for a lot complex parameters.

Thank you all for the reply. I found solution for this, I converted my point cloud data to .stl file and imported to star cmm+
