Hi. I have a model with very fine mesh near the wall, yplus~1. When I run the simulation, I got the message "Wall Distance Limited to 10e-06 on n cells ....". I was using single precision and I thought this was the reason. However, the same message appeared as well although I used double precision. Does anyone know why this happens and how to get rid of it? Thanks in advance.

Look under Continua > Physics > Reference Values > Minimum Allowable Wall Distance.
However, I wouldn't just go discarding settings without knowing what they are and how they impact your analysis. Help files say that it is only used on degenerate cells that return a negative or near zero wall distance to keep the turbulence calculation stable. If you are seeing a warning about this then you might have mesh issues that need to be resolved still. If your near wall cell sizes are the order of 10^-6 then you could maybe think about lowering the minimum value, but if your cell sizes are larger than this value it indicates degenerate cells. Some options: -Use cell quality remediation (physics models). -Add optimization cycles and increase the quality threshold under Continua > Mesh 1 > Models > Polyhedral Mesher. -Run mesh quality analyzer (from macrohut on steve portal) to identify problem cells for more localized repair. |
