Are Custom Interfaces Possible?

Has anyone ever tried to either modify the behavior of an interface or create a custom interface using field functions or user code? I'd like to extend the functionality of the porous baffle interface to include flow deflection. There are some really simple impirical models that can be applied, I am just not sure if it's possible to do this type of thing. My experience in user code is less than zero, although, I am very comfortable with field funcitons.

Any thoughts?
