Initial Condition Velocity vs Inlet Velocity

Hey guys,

Im currently learning STAR-CCM+ and had a question regarding velocity. I have searched for this question but I have been unable to find an answer.

I wanted to know what the difference is between the velocity specified in the initial conditions of the physics continua branch and the velocity specified in the physics values in the Inlet - Boundaries - Regions branch.

Thanks

the velocity specified in the initial conditions is the initial velocity that is applied on the whole domain. This is what the CFD calculation starts from.
The one specified at the boundary is the boundary condition. This is what typically drives your flow.
To know the difference between initial condition and boundary condition, i would suggest you read any CFD text book.

Thank you for your response. Yes, I am currently reading a CFD textbook while learning the STAR-CCM+ software.
