VOF vs Multiphase Segragated

Hi,

Where can I find a good comparison of the above two methods (VOF vs Segragated multiphase) for simulating multiphase flows ? The simulation is in particular related to impinging water jet in quiescent atmosphere.

I find that both methods produces results, but segregated is more sensitive to mesh size, time step and other parameters., and is more susceptible to divergence.

Can anyone who have experience with both these methods suggest when one should go for VOF or segregated ?

With VOF you always want to resolve the interface, so the problem you describe sounds more suitable for VOF, I would probably stick that route, but lets say you have small droplets that form or air becomes trapped where your mesh is too large to resolve them and you need to model this, than Euler-Euler or Multiphase method is needed. In summary I believe VOF is more stable, thus if you can resolve the interface stick with VOF

There is a new model in v11.2 only isothermal at the moment that in theory can handle such transitions of modeling an air/water interface with bubbles and droplets.
