Surfaces Partially Coincident

2 Attachment(s)
I am new to Star CCM +. I am just following instruction from my professor gave the class. But I get this error has seen in the picture. This error appears after I execute the Badge for 2D Meshing. I have redrawn the figure three times because I thought it had something to do with my drawing. I drawn a couple of different lines to represent different surfaces. It is suppose to be a classroom with two windows and two vents. The windows have convection while the vents have heat flux. I need to keep the room at 20 degree C.

Thank You for any help or assistance with this problem.

have you split part surfaces properly? it looks like you have one of the edge surfaces still attached to your z=0 geometry... remember, it can only create a badge for surfaces coincident with z=0 so if part of that surface deviates from that plane then you will see this warning.

How do I split the surfaces ?

go into geometry > parts > surfaces and right click. Then select split by patch....

this should allow you to make the various surfaces independent of each other by simply clicking.

You should check out the help manual, it will give you much more detailed instructions.

I have tried everything I can't figure what I am doing wrong. It is just a simple 4 by 8 meter surface that is 0.2 m thick. I followed the examples like we did in class and still no results. I am thinking it is something in my drawing that I am doing wrong. I am drawing it on the XY plane and just extruding it 0.2 m. Do you have any suggestions ?

Make sure you are naming all of the part surfaces. This error indicates the code can't make a 2D domain because one of your part surface shares a name with one that is on the z=0 plane.

That is what it was. Thank you for your help. I wished you had told me that two days ago.:D
At least now I know more about after going through a rigorous of trouble shooting.
