Hello Guys!

I'm running turbulent air flow in rectangular duct for HVAC application in star ccm+ and I need to determine where fully developed flow occurs along the duct length. Is there a way to do so? is it correct to say fully developed flow occurs when dv/dx=0 and dp/dx= const in case of turbulent non circular pipe?

Any input is really appreciated.

Thanks

I think it is a good definition you defined,

perhaps you can make a line probe in the center and use that as the part in an x-y plot to visualize the center line velocity, also another x-y plot using the walls and examine wall shear stress, thus to help visualize things.

Hi, in my opinion by using the line probe along the duct, this issue should runs. Otherwise you can control two profile of velocity on a probe that belong to your cross section: only when two profile are characterized by small integral error, it'll be a fully developed flow.
