How to avoid the pebble-pebble contact

I'm modeling the flow through the pebble bed. Pebbles may have a contact point with another one, which should be avoid in the meshing. When I use the STAR CCM+, how can I avoid the pebble-pebble contact? What steps or functions should I take in the modeling?
