Hey guys.

I'd like to use the feature of parallel meshing to increase total RAM, however apparently only polyhedral model is available, and I would like to generate an extrusion.

Does anyone know if it is possible to mesh first the polyhedral region in parallel and then afterwards use a serial to create just the extruded cells?

Thanks in advance!

P.S.: When I use parallel meshing, in the beginning it uses all cores, but soon when it reaches 'Preparing surface for surface meshing' it reverts back to a single core. Is this normal??

P.P.S.: Would parts based meshing be a solution?

In 11.06 the extruder is available in Parts Based Meshing, so I would use that because you have the advantage to run the extruder separately from the initial volume mesh. So if you want a different number of layers you simply change it and execute the extruder operation without the need to re-create the whole volume mesh as well.

Surface meshing is only available in serial, so reverting back to serial for it is quite normal.
