Co-Simulation of a Abdominal Aneurysm

Hi All,

I am trying to set-up a mechanical co-simulation between Star CCM+ and Abaqus to measure displacement of an aortic aneurysm.

Does anyone have any idea when running this what i need to set up in Abaqus do I just uses the walls of the aneurysm or do I include the fluid also?

My basic setup is that I have the fluid volume flowing through the walls in Star CCM+.

Any help would be great thanks

as when tackling all new areas doing a tutorial or two is the best way to learn and it so happens that in your case there is a very relevent one to do and all will be clear

Ping,

I habe completed the relevant tutorial in the Star CCM+ tutorial guide for Mechanical Coupling with Abaqus.

I am just looking for some direction in setting my own up as the tutorial uses a single part within a flow region where as mine is a fluid flow within the part.

maybe you mean you have a cad model of the solid blood vessel or maybe it is just a surface model either way you will make an fea model of either with solid or shell elements
then for the fluid you take the inner surface of the vessel and add end caps which both create a close surface to creat the fluid cells and also act as inlets and outlets
