Hi, CFDers

Is there anyone who has experience in the ship problems?

I just started an analysis on KVLCC2 case but i met a problem on the imported surface mesh.

I used the .igs file which is published on Simman website and then imported the igs file into StarCCM as surface mesh. However, the surface seems imcomplete. So i tried to repair the surface but the repaired geometry is always problemsome.. this is quite frustrating...

Is there any advice? Using another cad problem to rebuild the ship geometry or other ideas?? Kind advice will be appreciatet!

Hey!
I had your problem either and I exactly know about your suffering (well coz I did!). igs files in SIMMAN arent quite well and after u download them u gotta mess with them in softwares like Rhino and stuff.
I am currently working on KVLCC2 right now and if u want, I can send u the corrected geometry which u can simply close the gaps and surfaces in STAR-CCM+ via Repair Surface Tool.
waiting to hear from you
Cheers!

Hello,
even the recently posted geometry causes severe meshing issues in the simulation programs I use. Is there anyone who could send me a better geometry of the KVLCC2 hull?
Best regards,
Carl
