Hi everybody,

I will start by saying that I am a newbie, so please be indulgent.

My goal is to have a domain in which I have a city block composed of several isolated houses. I am importing a CAD surface mesh (in stl format) as a part in Star-CCM+. Then, I repair this mesh until no problem is found. After this, I want to extract a volume from that surface mesh and subtract it from the domain.

The problem is that I get an error message when extracting the volume:
"Could not find appropriate topological region from input parts"

I have no idea how to fix that problem, and yes I searched for solutions before on Google but didn't find anything that helped. I'd like to add also that as suggested on some pages I found online, I also tried splitting by surface topology, then apply extract volume to all the parts but it doesn't work.

Help and explanations are more than welcome! Thank you!

If you repaired the domain why do you need to extract the volume? It's closed, just mesh it as is.

Thank you. It solved my problem.

I just assumed that I needed to extract a volume from the surface mesh, but this wasn't the case here.
