Hi

I am trying to calculate the Normal stress and Shear stress component of a straight water jet hitting on a wall which is normal to the wall and at various angles

I could only calculate the Force on the wall or taking surface average of the force due to pressure or shear or both..
But I dont think this is the correct way. So if someone know how we can calculate them, it would be really great from your side.

I believe "normal" forces acting on the wall should all be due to the pressure acting on it. Shear forces will act tangentially to the wall surface. So these should be readily available in the field functions of pressure and Wall Shear stress.

If you want to look at the energy dissipation you may look at elongation and shear viscous dissipation:



This should be valid only within the fluid domain, so it evades your question (plus it can be tricky to program as user defined field functions and should highly depend on your mesh quality)
