Hello together,

is there a possibility to count cells in a direction of a local coordinate system (cs) axis?

I've got an extruded mesh and a local cs at the inlet of this mesh. My goal is to create a derived part (plane) after a specific number of cell layers in the direction of the coordinate system's axis.

I'm working with java, so don't hesitate if you have any ideas which don't include the GUI.

Thanks in advance.

Yes you can create a threshold with field function as centroid of any direction like x,y or z.

Either I misunderstand you, or you got the wrong idea of my goal.

Here is a picture of my mesh:

What I want is to create a plane for example after 3 layers in the direction of the x-axis. Is there any way to get the x coordinates of a specific layer in x direction?

Thanks in advance.

You said you want to count the cells in a direction from specific point. Is that right?

I am sorry if I am wrong again. open a mesh scene with that boundary. Manually put the cursor on the mesh cell or surface for which you want the co-ordinates and push "." button on keyboard. You will get the co-ordinates. i dont know any other solution.

my idea was to count cells in a specific direction (may not be the best?). But as I mentioned in my last two posts: I want to create a plane after a specific number of layers. Therefore I need a way to get the coordinates of the layer where I want to create my new plane.

I cant click on it, because there is no boundary to click But anyway, thanks for your efforts!
