Hi,

I am a new user to Star CCM+, and have been following these tutorials to try and create a simulation for a race car.

When I attempt to import my assembly into STAR CCM, then create the automated meshes, I always receive an error message that will not allow the operation to occur because one of my parts was unable to be subtracted. Attempting to repair the geometry does not work, as we are trying to simulate a roll hoop, and attempting to fix that ends with a horrible mess that is unusable.

I went through the videos again and trying to make some edits to my CAD model, but those resulted in the same issue. Now I am attempting to create the wind tunnel and subsequent subtraction in a CAD assembly. However, when I import the wind tunnel with subtraction, it rightly views it as one piece. However, I would still like it to view the subtraction as a component and the wind tunnel as a separate component.

If there are any solutions you might be able to think of, I would be very much appreciative of it. I have been trying to figure this out for a solid week and a half now, and would really like to move forward with this project. Thank you for your help in advance, and if I need to clarify something I will do my best.

You can separate them in CCM itself. If these surfaces are not touching one another them separate them using option as "Split by non-contagious" in geometry>>part"__">>surfaces.
