Calculate HRR Volume integral

Hi,

I want star ccm+ to calculate the sum (=volume integral) of my individual heat release rates. The individual rates seem to depend on the cell volume. I have different grid spacings in there, it is partially refined. Anyone have an idea how to calculate that? My model is steady so I could make star compute one step after defining the required function.

Thank you

I don't know what a heat release rate is, but volume integral reports exist, can you use one of those?

Thats what Im trying to learn about. Every cell has a single scalar value and i need the sum of it. There is positive and negative values contributing to it. And I am not sure if they should be weighted according to their cell volume. The unit of HRR is Watt.

Edit: i thought about it and it makes sense, a bigger cell gives a higher contribution in terms of watt and that is what i can see. So all i really need is the sum in my volume of different cell kinds. If someone could explain the procedure a little that would be great. Im new to postprocessing in star

Like I said, look up the volume integral report.

Correct, volume integral should give you what you are looking for (i.e. the result will be in Watts assuming you are integrating W/m3)

It did. Thank you!
