Hi,

I installed StarCCM+v12.04 on my Notebook. The installation package is STAR_CCM+12.02.011_01_linux-x86_64-r8.tar.gz.
When I try to open a Scene or a Plot on a loaded .sim file
I receive the following message at the terminal window (where I also launch StarCCM+v12.04):

Quote:
libGL error: unable to load driver: i965_dri.so
libGL error: driver pointer missing
libGL error: failed to load driver: i965
libGL error: unable to load driver: i965_dri.so
libGL error: driver pointer missing
libGL error: failed to load driver: i965
libGL error: unable to load driver: swrast_dri.so
libGL error: failed to load driver: swrast
The mentioned driver are on my system located in:

Quote:
dennis@DennisNotebook:/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri$ ls
i915_dri.so nouveau_dri.so r600_dri.so virtio_gpu_dri.so
i965_dri.so nouveau_vieux_dri.so radeon_dri.so vmwgfx_dri.so
i965_drv_video.so r200_dri.so radeonsi_dri.so
kms_swrast_dri.so r300_dri.so swrast_dri.so
Does anyone know why StarCCM+ can't load the driver?

I hope, I made myself clear and I'm looking forward to your suggestions.

If you run the command glxinfo, what does the system report?

To me it looks like your system has the correct software

Does your system have dual intel/nvidia graphics? Why is the nouveau driver installed?

glxinfo gives me a lot of stats, but I can't make much out of it.
I atttached the whole output.

Regarding your second question: to be honest I have no clue why the nouveau driver is installed and I only found Intel:

Code:
dennis@DennisNotebook:~$ lspci | grep -i --color 'vga\|3d\|2d'
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation HD Graphics 620 (rev 02)
Attached Files
File Type: txt glxinfo.txt (36.5 KB, 5 views)

The problem is here:

client glx vendor string: Mesa Project and SGI
client glx version string: 1.4

So somehow your laptop is not using a hardware graphics driver, it's still using software rendering (it's interesting it still states Direct Rendering: yes, that's a bit confusing).

Have you tried updating your graphics driver? Try to get the proprietary driver from Intel. Otherwise the integrated chipset may not be sufficient to do anything 3D.

I updated the graphic driver but the same error occurs.

like mentioned before, it seems everything needed is there but the program has no access or couldn't find the driver.

In other programs like Mat Lab or Google Earth 3d visualisation works perfectly well.
