Conformal mesh vs "100% of master area, 100% of slave area"
 
Hello all,
I am trying to create an interface between a liquid and a solid regions. I am not able to have a conformal mesh (I am not using the same mesh continua for both regions). When I initialize the interface I get the following message:

SS/WW: 28168 intersection faces (100% of master area, 100% of slave area)

I am not sure what does the "100% of master area, 100% of slave area" mean, and what is the difference between this and the conformal mesh?

The 100% is just not very precise. It's like saying 99.99999999987% or whatnot. So likely just a few faces are ever so slightly different. Conformal would be like saying 100.000000000%

a conformal mesh does not need an interpolation layer.



Nonconformal meshes need to be interpolated onto each other. The Percentage on each area says how much of the surface elements could be mapped. If a surface element couldn't be mapped then it will be set to a wall boundary by default. So,100% means that no surface element was set as wall possibly blocking flow.


Because conformal interfaces don't need an interpolation layer, they are probably slightly faster, too - compared to interpolated interfaces.

But does the interpolation between the nonconformal meshes affect the heat transfer between liquid and solid regions? I am trying to simulate a heat transfer between two regions.
