Default Plotting Multiple Variables in the Same Scene

Is it possible to plot multiple variables in the same scene --say, for example, a velocity vector field on top of a background showing the volume fraction of a particular phase?

This would be like overlaying two plots in Matlab.

Thanks for any guidance or insight you may provide.
