Dear all,
I encountered a problem while meshing a geometry using StarCCM+. I have a geometry that I enclosed in a sphere, and further, I enclosed this complete set-up into a cylinder. The meshing on geometry is fine but moving away from geometry the size of the cell is increasing in my case (which is still okay, but) I need a gradual increase in the size of the cell (attached file). Furthermore, the meshing on extreme outer domain i.e cylinder is completely fine. Is there any way to control the size of cells so that the size of cells increase gradually/progressively? I will be grateful if anyone can help or give a helpful suggestion. Thanks in advance Last edited by akkiturb; April 7, 2019 at 20:14. |

There should be growth rate and/or max cell size options in the meshers you can configure. If that doesn't get the job done then maybe an unstructured mesh isn't really what you want and you will need to consider importing a mesh from something that can do structured mesh.

Otherwise trimmed mes, polyhedral mesh does't have maximum cell size function in mesh continua.
you should control that using surface size, volume comtrol and growth rate only. |
