Marine propeller rotating dont interact with fluid

Hello everyone!

This is my first message on the site ^^

So, i have a problem.

This is the first time i try to make a part moving, I'm trying to simulate a Marine propeller rotating in water, but the propeller haven't any "physic collision", is just like a "picture" and dont interact with the water.

May someone had this problem? Thanks, JF

Probably many. Unfortunately, the actual problem is your current lack of understanding your solver.

make yourself familiar on how to use overset meshes in the Manual of StarCCM.
And do the tutorials on motions (also to be found in manual).

How can the solver know which parts interact, and which not? It doesn't, until you tell it how. Interfaces are an important concept in your model setup to understand.

Best regards,
Sebastian

Really thanks, Sebastian !

My StarCCM+ Manual doesn't work, do you know where i could find it? Because I've been looking for it on the Internet, but I failed...

But surely, I dont really understand how the solver works ^^'

I saw on the web that i must use a "secondary domain", moving , but on my simulation there only my propeller on move :/

That's something you really should fix.

The latest manual can be found in the steveportal, the customer support portal for StarCCM. You can also find lots of other valuable information, too.

As you student, you can ask for an academic license including an account for the steveportal. Or ask your supervisor or account manager to add an account for you.

I found the manual! Only 11 600 pages ^^' I try to understood, but im french and my english isnt perfect.
I understood that i'll need an "overset mesh", but what is this type of boundary? Is only work with interface?

Ive success to launch simulation, but nothing happens on my streamlines ^^' But im in...

If I were you I would hold off on doing your own simulation and instead focus on some of the tutorials that comes with STAR-CCM+. When you've understood those performing this simulation should be easier.
