How to get time-averaged result in unsteady simulation in star-ccm+?

Hi! Everyone,

I am doing Implicit Unsteady simulations now and I want to get the time-averaged surface pressure and time-averaged flow information in the full domain in a certain time-step scope. What can I do? Appreciate your help!

Wrong subforum mate ;)

In the more recent versions of CCM+, you can add a time-averaging Monitor. There you can also adjust sampling frequency and window.
Of course this has to be done before running the simulation.

Hi! Alex, thanks for your reply. Do you mean the Field mean monitor? I have set the Field mean monitor but I donot know how to plot the scene. Could you give me some advice? or is there any tutorial? Thank you very much!

You can use the field mean monitors just like any other field. E.g. instead of selecting velocity magnitude in a scene, select your new field mean monitor. It only contains data when at least one sample is done. You can even check the monitor for how many samples it spans currently.
I bet there is more info about all of this on the "steve portal".

Thanks a lot! Alex. I don't know if every user have steve portal access. I only checked the user guide and didn't find any tutorial. Did I need to build a new field function? And how to choose the field mean monitor?

Every paying user can get access, just ask the support person assigned to you. Or click on register on the login page.
I am not sure how I can explain it any better. Set up the scene you want to see, then instead of choosing one of the usual quantities like velocity or pressure, select the new field mean monitor. It must be hidden somewhere in the list. You might need to initialize the simulation before it becomes available, not 100% sure about that. And as stated earlier, it only contains data when at least one sample has been made.

Thank you so much Alex! I thought the monitor is the new function name so I didnot find it. Now I realized the title is the function name.
