Hello All,

I wanted to know if a non uniform flow (at inlet of porous region) comes out of a porous region uniformly (at outlet of porous region) always ?

Thanks,
Yogesh

Always? No.

It can, but it may or may not make physical sense.

Can you elaborate on why you are asking this question?

Linear isotropic homogeneous porous media certainly has a tendency to. The pressure drop through porous media is generally Darcy-like, where the resistance is proportional to the square of velocity (and not linearly proportional to velocity). Whenever you have anything like this, a strong resistance to the fastest regions of the flow, there is a tendency to make the flow more uniform.

But remember LIH and Darcy-equation, etc. are just models. If you have some exotic metamaterial or heck, even dirt, there might be some consequences not covered by these models.
