Hey everyone,

I'm running a rotorcraft simulation using an overset mesh approach (mesh around each blade overset with a background) and it's taking a while to run. The subiterations are what I would expect but the hole cutting, interpolation, and wall distance calculation just take longer than I think it should, which makes the whole thing long. To combat this I'm thinking of freezing the wall distance solver since after the first iteration I think the distances for the blade meshes should be the same and the distances in the background mesh should be far enough from any surface that they dont make a difference.
I'm just looking for any thoughts to speed up the process for when the blades change position, and if freezing the wall distance solver seems like a bad idea.

The wall distance solver is super duper fast and shouldn't be slowing down your calculation much. If it is, that hints that something else is causing a problem.

Okay, that's my notion from doing aircraft with large meshes and it runs quickly. If you've done anything similar with overset do you have any recommendations? It says "Calculating Wall Distance" but then usually colon and something else about interpolation so it is doing something regarding the overset calculations rather than just calculating the wall distance.

It is just annoying because the update takes about as long, or longer, than running the iterations, which I feel like should not be the case. I see in the Steve Portal they talk about using multiple interfaces to expedite the process but I'm not sure that's possible with overset interface.
