post-processing of the particles

Hi,

Q: I know that there exists a particle demonstration (not a simulation of course) in SOLIDWORKS, where you can inject dummy particles to your steady-state simulation and see their movement along the streamlines. Is a similar option (trick) possible in STARCCM+?

I have simulated an axial fan. However, for better post-processing, I am intended to add some particles to move from the inlet of the domain towards the outlet. I remember one guy had done it some years ago, by adding kinda dummy particle after the simple single-phase simulation had been finished.

I do not remember what he did clearly. it was somehow injecting particles to the inlet and de-activating the solver parts, except the Lagrangian.

I did the same thing, the solution is ok...BUT IT TAKES TIME TO LET THE PARTICLES MOVE FROM THE INLET TO THE OUTLET OVER TIMESTEPS.

I AM LOOKING FOR A FAST METHOD.

To mohammad: What makes them dummy particles, exactly? It sounds a bit like you are describing a line integral convolution or some kind of streamline rather than 'injected particles'. There are lots of options for displaying vectors and streamlines, but having particles implies some kind of multi-phase model.

To profi_star-ccm+: Can you clarify your rant, please? Why would this be advisable? Best practice usually does not result in the need for extreme fidelity for which you seem to advocate. How is using models that are built into the software to simplify certain types of analyses an attempt to deceive? I don't mean any disrespect, I just don't understand the point you are trying to make.
