Im simulating blood flow in a small artery. The physics model i have set up is:
- Three dimensional
- Liquid
- Laminar
- Constant density
- Segregated flow
- implicit unsteady

I want to have a parabolic velocity profile at the inlet. What changes would i have to make to the model for this. Any other changes would be welcome too. Thanks

You need to define a field function or create a table with the respective values and position to set such a profile. This is independent from your continuum settings.

Which field function would you recommend? Ive looked through it but havent managed to see a clear one.

I might haven't been clear.

You will have to create a field function which takes the Position vector(or two of its components) and the defining constants for the parabola to compute the velocity at each position.

So, this requires you to "design" the equation which yields the desired parabolic inlet profile.


If you do not want to do that, you might think about a stagnation inlet, or a mass flow outlet, but these can be less stable solving strategies.
