Modelling a filter as porous media

Hello everyone,

i am trying to model a filter using porous media in STAR-CCM+.
I want two things to get done with the porous media:
1. pressure drop via the filter
2. flow-straightening, the flow above the filter is turbulent, the flow below the filter after crossing the filter has to be laminar.

Does anyone have recommendations how to model this?

I tried via porous Region first but had the Problem that no flow-straightening and no pressure drop occured; the flow looked Always the same regardless the values for porosity and tortuosity, it Always just looked like a "normal fluid Region".
I also tried with porous media model but star automatically changed my interfaces to baffle and i couldnt Change them back to internal, and due to baffle interfaces not working with porous media model i couldnt manage that way neither.

Did someone model a filter and is able to give me some recommendations on how to set up and what values and Settings have to be taken?

Thanks a lot in Advance!!!

You can learn more about modeling porous media if you spend some time on reading the manual - pp 3819 «Examples of Setting Porous Resistance Properties» for example.
