Non-linear Geometry solver

Hello !

I'm on a project in which i want to simulate the deformation of a long aluminium plate, subject to gravity, fixed at an extremity and free on the other extremity. I use the "Solid Stress" model in order to compute the deformation of the plate.

In a first time, I assumed the small deformation hypothesis was observed. My numeric result converge towards the theoretical one, with a maximal displacement (at the free end) of 123 mm.

This plate is very flexible so it will surely not respect the small deformation hypothesis, that's why I would like to activate the "Nonlinear Geometry" solver. However, when I did I obtained a maximal displacement of 3 mm, which is clearly a confusing result ...

Focusing on the configuration of the "Nonlinear Geometry" solver, I observed that the only parameter is the choice or either "Full Newton" or "Modified Newton" method, which do not allow me to get a better result.

Has someone already use the "Nonlinear Geometry" model and encountered the same problem ? Does anyone has an idea about the cause of this strange result ?

Thank you for your time :)
