Acquiring the vectored thrust of an EDF rocket

I trust everyone is keeping well:). I am a university beginner user whom has thus far done a star ccm+ project in determining the drag coefficient of a truck. I am part of group that is making an electric ducted fan rocket. We are using aerofoil vanes to redirect the thrust. I would like to calculate the redirected thrust force, and tabulate it against various angles of attack. The 2-D setup done in Star CCM+ is seen in the attached image. The block on the left contains a segment of the rocket that has a known air mass flowrate inlet and walls. The block on the right represents the surrounding atmosphere. I saw a post on another forum were a user suggested placing a plane under a copter to measure the thrust force on it. I would like to know if it is possible to insert a ''pseudo plane'' perpendicular to the redirected thrust force, and then run a force report along a vector in that direction. Or alternatively if there is a simpler approach using momentum equations that I may be overlooking. Kind Regards Johan M |
