You are already using a macro to run Star right?

Record a macro that sets the maximum iterations and add this to your run macro.

If you are not already using a macro, start doing it now.

Record the macro... It doesn't require any GUI to use the macro. You will get a .java file. It's a text file that will contain the text commands you are looking for.

You can create a Parameter (its value can be passed through command line) and set maximum iterations to be limited by it.

Why don't you set up the stopping criteria in the template file (.sim) that you use to start the simulation?

Also, like it is mentioned already, you can record the setting up of the stopping criteria and add those lines somewhere near the beginning of your main java macro.
